This picture represents equality. Everybody is sharing with each other and eventually you will get back what you gave away. If people did it like this, the world would be a more equal place.

It’s important for people in Europe to receive help and support with stressors and difficulties in life like: schoolwork, planning, mental health, physical health etc. So they will have a clear headspace to use their creativity and to have enough freetime to relax, build a life and to discover who they are and want to be.

Everybody should have free access to basic life necessities. With this an important stressor will be removed. This will leave more room for people to focus on the things they value in life or things they want to achieve in life.

When you are together, you are standing stronger than when you are alone. There is a saying in the Netherlands: many hands make little work. That means also many minds create more thoughts. When the countries of Europe share knowlegdes, experience, data etc, we can support each other and learn from good practices.

We asked to go to the beach in Viareggio and we saw that all beaches were private. We discovered that there was just one small part of the beach that’s totally free. We want to show how humanity uses nature for making money and visually pollute the seaside.

On the first picture you can see that people celebrate and have fun with each other without any conflicts or fights. On the other pic you can see that the people use digital stuff and don’t focus on the real world anymore.

In this picture you can see two white, thin, blonde and unrealistic mannequins. We want to draw attention to the spread of the global North, especially the European beauty standard. For us it is important to highlight consumerism and exclusion of ethnic groups, body shapes and genders. Also to overthrow the working condition in which these clothes are produced.

This picture shows a part of the beach covered with chairs and parasols. It shows that the whole beach is privately owned which opens up the question of who can benefit from common goods such as nature. We belief these goods should assessable for everyone.

In this picture you see a sign in several languages saying that the beach is private and reserved for paying guests, and that it is not allowed to even stop at the shoreline. In the background you can see the sea. For me, it foremost represents two things: - Capitalism: with which right are people privatizing nature, not to protect it, but to profitize it? Nature should be for everyone to enjoy, not only for people who can afford it. My vision of Europe is a non-capitalist one. - Closed borders/fortress Europe: This very repelling sign directly in front of the Mediterranean sea, which for many people is the hope to reach Europe and a better life, often risking their life, symbolizes very strongly the restrictive immigration policy of Europe, where people live in wealth that the global south has to pay the prize for. In my vision of a Europe that offers a good life for everyone, this sign and the messages behind it would not exist

The seller represents the very opposite of Viareggio‘s touristic target group, but also shows how different groups of people in the context of race, social status, are perceived in the society. On one side you have people enjoying the offers of this vacation resort, offering a haven for a very privileged group of people. On the other side you have a street seller, a member of a different racial group, an immigrant, struggling to sell his merch to the few tourist seen in the town. This photo depicts the discrepancy between these two groups of people in the context of opportunities given in the places they live in – EU flag in the background. My idea of a utopian Europe ensures equal opportunities to everyone regardless of their social, racial, and religious background.

With this picture I want to show two different kinds of buildings. The palace on the left is a classic building composed by glass, iron and cement, on the right we can see an other kind of building with plants on the top and on the balconies. In the same picture we have the problem and the solution to climate change. We need more cities where people and nature live in symbiosis with new types of infrastructure.

It represents inequality. In a world where war and inequality doesn’t seem to cease, people lose their lives and belongings on a daily basis. I hope we can work towards a more peaceful world where safety comes before materialism and power.
